Although the overall design of the HY-01 remains familiar to the original Hyperdolly presented on Kickstarter in late 2023, it has been substantially re-engineered internally. Below is a complete list of improvements introduced since the Kickstarter batch.

Hardware

Core Electronics

  • Arduino platform replaced with ESP32 (modern, pre-certified wireless module)
    The new architecture delivers significantly faster interface response, lower control latency, improved power efficiency, and a fully FCC-compliant wireless foundation — essential for proper global scalability.

Remote Control

  • Power source redesigned (2×14500 3.7V → 3×AA 1.5V)
    Standard AA batteries are globally available and easier to replace on set.
  • USB power input added (5V / 2A)
    The remote can now run directly from a power bank or external supply, allowing extended runtime and battery hot-swapping without interruption.
  • Redesigned strap hook mount
    More accessible geometry.

Motion & Mechanics

  • New soft wheels
    Made of 45A Shore hardness polyurethane, the tires provide an optimal balance between motion stability and performance on imperfect floors.
  • Worm gear backlash adjustment added
    Fine steering calibration is now possible, resulting in more predictable curved motion paths.
  • Rear wheel alignment refinement
    The unfolded end-position is factory-preset and adjustable, ensuring improved straight-line tracking and trajectory consistency.
  • Reinforced motor unit-to-frame bracket
    The structural bracket connecting the motor unit to the main frame has been redesigned for increased rigidity and durability
  • Bigger steering angle adjustment knob
    Allows for more comfortable and accurate fine-tuning.

Mounting & Transport

  • Rubber hook mounts added
    A new mounting option designed for heavy-duty tripods and increased grip stability.
  • Case interior redesigned
    Improved compartment layout with more secure remote storage.

Firmware

  • Stepper motor motion engine upgraded
    Smoother acceleration and deceleration curves with 1.3× higher maximum speed.
  • Battery charge indicator added (dolly unit)
  • Signal strength indicator added
